And in all that 1 1/2 years, you never figured out how to read the
rec.collecting.books FAQ to see that for sale notices aren't wanted. Well,
some are slower than others.

So, let me see if I understand where you're coming from:

A. You're clueless;
B. You delegate the posting of your messages to a third party (Frankly,
I've never heard of Deja News "selecting" newsgroups for a message you
send them)
C. You object to being corrected for your clueless actions.

Thanks for letting us know. All of us here will no doubt take these points
into consideration when deciding whether or not to do business with you.

Please excuse my ignorance, but this is only my third or fourth time on
this newsgroup. Do you mean by the above statement that this ng does not
want anyone to sell something? What about buying? Or trading?

But, I guess it would be difficult to buy, if no one was selling, right?
Bu, what about trading, is that allowed? Of, what if all I want is to
get an idea of what something might be worth, could that be looked at as
a pre-amble to selling?

I am sorry if I seem sarcastic, but a newsgroup that does not allow
someone to sell something they own seems a bit, well, anal. If I loved
my copy of Heinlein's Glory Road, and truly enjoyed it, then found a
better copy, in better shape, why would there be a problem with my
wanting to offer someone else the chance to enjoy the book?

Also, I have never seen the FAQ for this group. Maybe they explain their
stand there. If you will tell me where to find it, I will read it.

And by the way...I don't sell books on the net. The most I would do is
trade them.

Not on this group.

Again no.

No.

All three of the above can be done on rec.arts.sf.marketplace.

No, asking about the _value_ of a book is within this group's scope.

Because there are newsgroups deigned to do just that. This newsgroup is
specifically designed NOT to be a place for FS and WTB postings.

Mike Berro> Sounds like time for a reposting (if memory serves, you were
the keeper of the FAQ)

Yes--the idea is to discuss collecting, ask about points on First eds, look for
price help, conservation advice, etc. rather than FS and WTB. These sale posts
should go to one of the "marketplace" ngs.  This is to reduce clutter and
duplication.

Welcome to the group, BTW!

The sage continues!

If you read my last post, you'll see that

I copied Deja News on my post, and this was their reply:

So, I'll have to amend my previous judgement. I've come to believe that
Mr. Fuller is:

A. Clueless; and
B. Really, _really_ clueless.

But enough of beating this particular dead horse . . .
