Che Guevara on new Cuban banknote

Well, for some reason, Che got idolized, certainly here in the States.
There are many theories about his career.  The one I like is that he
quarreled with Fidel.  Fidel couldn't have him shot, so he suggested
that Che just go someplace dangerous for the good of the Party.

I had five copies of the Che Diaries from the original US publication
in some leftwing magazine or other... but it has been so long that I
would have to search every box I have not opened in a decade...

Somehow, Che no longer seems romantic or idealistic, just stupid and
mean.

This marketing ploy by Casto might even bring in more US Dollars that
his "Pirates" coins.

Michael
"Cuba libre!"

He had a mean and ***ic streak, in the early days of the revolution
he
ordered a number of people to go before the firing squad and enjoyed
watching them being gunned down.  The Bolivian adventure was doomed
from the start due to an unsympathic native population who was not
interested in revolution and
inadequate support from Castro.  That famous photo from 1960 has
immortalized him into a pop culture image.
