ISO vs. SAE

Is the S.A.E. 20 the same thing as the Mobil Velocite Spindle Oil
which is a ISO VG 22??? I have a W variable speed Sheldon drive and
the specs on lathes.co.uk says that the maximum spindle speed for the
lathe is 2000rpm. Will the Mobil Velocite No. 10 be OK for the
spindle??? ANd wahat is the difference between ISO and SAE other than
they are two different association.
Thanks, Steve

No. There's a good viscosity conversion chart here:
http://www.irvingoilco.com/lubricants/viscosity.htm

and a brand equivalent table here:
http://www.benz.com/products/conversion.htm
