Index for mill with a spring loaded closer, the tag reads "J W Dearborn".
Mod. H 147 This is a well made castiron construction indexer intended
My chalange is to find some of the strange looking collets which it uses.
The collets have no threads with which to close them, instead the collets
have a flange which the closer lever engages to secure part to be machined.
The collet which I have has no identifing printing, the length is"3.050"
& dia. is 1.700 and .750 bore. It has a neat rapid indexing setup and only
weighes about 40 lbs. The tag reads, made in Ansonia Conn.
Does the company that manufactured it still exist, I assume this
indexer is 20 to 40 yrs. old. I have modern spin indexers and large old
ones, but I like the Dearborn better all I need is these special collets
which have no threads. I live near Toledo Ohio U S A
I have a lot of respect for information this gruop generates. THANKS
