I am currently enameling a necklace in a kiln at 1450-1500 degrees. The
necklace is supported by steel forms and steel wire mesh screens. My
problem is that the steel is oxidizing and then flaking off the supports.
This flaking results in ugly black marks in my enamel. Does anyone have
any suggestions? I bought the stuff from Thompson enamel-very reputable.
My enamelist friend said she has never experienced this before. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me directly so
that I don't miss anything. Thank you-Brenda
