BP Quill Spring Adjusting Tool

This is my "custom" made tool for adjusting the quill counterbalance
spring in a J head Bridgeport. Saves your fingers and may prevent a broken
spring.

After drilling the holes put about a 15 - 20 degree bend in the area shown.
Then put a #10 x .75"***thru the .19" hole so the thread sticks out the
opposite side from the bend, put a nut on it and tighten the***and nut.

To use the tool:
Lock the quill, remove the quill feed handle and one of the two screws
which hold the spring cage to the head casting. Slide the 1" hole of
the tool over shaft in place of the feed handle. Rotate the tool until
you can engage the end of the #10***in the***hole in the cage.
Hold the tool with your left hand as you remove the other cage retaining
screw. Once the second***is removed you can wind or unwind the spring
by rotating the tool around the shaft either clockwise or counter-clockwise.
