OT - I may have a job..

Post by Johanna Gibso » Fri, 24 Sep 2004 00:52:36

        Hello all,
I went to an interview today, for bookkeeping and secretarial work
at Mathew's Foods (a large Chinese grocery store in central Dundee).
Amy Wong, the manager, said to come back on Monday at 9:30, and I will
learn the computer programs that I need to be using (Excel and Sage
mainly) during Monday and Wednesday days.  Then we can see whether I
like the job and can do it, and if after Wednesday it looks like I can
do the work and that I like the job, the job is mine.  It is 5 an
hour, and there are about 10-15 people working at this store, so it's
not too big and impersonal.  I have to admit her first question threw
me:  "Are you Russian?"  I guess all the stuff about Russian history
and language under the "education" section of the CV made her think I
was Russian.  Then she guessed Scottish.  Then she just gave up!
Anyway, wish me luck and cross any fingers you don't have crossed
for other folks, that this works out for me.

All of my fingers and toes are crossed for you, Jo! Of course, that
means I've had to hunt and peck with my chin to type this.... ;) Best of
luck!

Always time to cross the fingers for folks we love!  And I have some toes
that aren't being used right now, too.  Good luck, Jo, I hope it works out.

Thanks for the thought!  I sure hope something comes up soon.  I'm
off to look at the flat I'll be moving into, so it would be nice to
know there was a way to pay the rent (!)
