SM trade-ins

I'm having fun with my new SM, love the knee-lift.  My girlfriend bought
a less expensive Janome a few months ago, and although she likes it a
lot, is now somewhat sorry that she didn't spend a bit more to get the
features that my 6500 has.  Have any of you traded up and received a
really good trade in amount?  Do some dealers give you the full purchase
price towards a new machine if you've only had your machine less than a
year?

Many, if not all sewing machine shop dealers will give you the full amount
on a trade-in, if purchased within the past 12 months.  Mine does that &
then pro-rates it for each additional year.  If the dealer is a good dealer
& wants to maintain her business, he should give her full or close to full
value if her machine is only a few months old.

yes. I traded in after a little over a year. Though saleslady initially
talked about blue book value but I reminded her that had been the deal
that convinced me to buy the one I wasn't happy with and I had no
problem....
