Hello Hello!!!!!!!  :)

posted (and emailed) to the IRC #Stitch (starlink chat group) webpage.
Arachne kindly gave me her permission to post her message (below) to
RCTN and RCTQ.

Title:  IMQ FOUND!!!!!!

Date:  16/04/98 12:30:28

I'm so e***d!!!! I opened my Ventura Edition of the LA Times today and
there was OUR quilt!!! It's on exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Library in
Simi Valleey and will be there through Oct 4!! It's the centerpiece of
their show on history and quilting! I'm supposed to get to see it
TODAY!!!

Could someone let the folks on RCTN know and I'll be posting further
details (like what souveniers are available) as I learn it.. and I'm
taking a camera so soon we'll have updated pix on our web page.

Oh my!! And we were afraid they were ignoring it..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
(end of Arachne's message)

For those rather new to RCTN and RCTQ, the "IMQ" was created In Memory
of the Victims of Oklahoma City Bombing.  Please visit Kathy Dyer's
webpage (http://www.FoundCollection.com/~kdyer/imq.html) or my webpage
(http://www.FoundCollection.com/~hmardis/imq.html -- yes, it needs updating)
if you would like more information and history about this memorable and
truly inspiring quilt.

Alas, this quilt has a sad side.  It never would have been created had
not the tragic bombing occurred at the Murrah Federal Building in
Oklahoma City on 19 April 1995 :(

Let us not forget the victims.

Oh, my!!!

I just did a search of the L.A. Times web site and found the article.
It's hard to tell how long it will be available, but for now you
can find the article which mentions the IMQ at:

I AM TOTALLY STUNNED.

I just want you all to know that the picture of the Friendship Album

idea she was a quilter, too - or posted to these groups - I know her
in another context altogether - as a writer friend and reviewer for my
magazine!

How unique that the gift my staff gave to her has already been passed
on in the quilt she helped make in memory of the Oklahoma Bombing.

We truly are a small world community.

Merry, still mind-boggled.....

It's gone now.  You can search their archives for it, but it'll cost you $1.50
to read the whole thing. :(  I'm so pleased to hear that people are seeing it,
though; I contributed a panel, and am proud to have been involved.

I'm too low in the hierarchy at UIC to officially even
*have* an opinion, so this sure isn't theirs.

Darlin' - I for one am _very_ sure you are
underestimating yourself!!
I hope this is just a play on some others I've
seen.
