OT: one day left to chat with y'all

after today, that is.  Tomorrow night, just before we go to bed, DH will
be disconnecting both computers and packing everything up in preparation
for the movers early Friday morning....yikes!!!!!!!

It seems like, for a while, we had all this time to get things done, and
now it's here and I'm totally stressed out.  I think I have a pretty
good handle on things, but have a list of what to do tomorrow and what
to do on Saturday after everything has been boxed up (which is what they
will be oding on Friday).  As part of my separation from this house -
the first one we bought together, and the one that we moved into when
DS, now 5 years old, was only 1 month old - I will be back over here
Saturday to do the scrubbing and sweeping.  Yep, me...cleaning...lol.

The current plan is to have the movers put the kitchen/dining room boxes
in the living room (I will be labeling them as to where they actually
go) so that I can sweep and scrub the floors.  I am also planning on
getting the countertops, cabinets, possibly the entire fridge (inside
and out), then onto the bathrooms.  They are actually pretty easy, so
I'm not stressing about that...in fact, my favorite thing to do when I
was younger was to thoroughly scrub the bathroom from top to bottom
(yeah, I'm a sick, sick person...<grin>).

Of course, some of you are probably wondering where the children and DH
will be during this time.....I'm making them stay away from me.  Told DH
that he needs to spend time with the children without me as a
distraction, to help the oldest not stress over the move, and because
the youngest doesn't get a lot of time with him under normal
circumstances.  The hotel we will be at has a pool, and both children
love being in water with their floats (DD has a little sit-in float, DS
has water wings and doesn't really come of the steps).  ALso said that
he would have the minivan, so if he had to get out of the hotel room, he
had the right car to tkae both children in (his car only has a booster
seat for DS).

Today, the only thing I have to do is iron the clothes that he wants in
case our household goods don't arrive before he has to start work.  At
6pm, we have to meet with our attorney in NY to sign papers for the sale
of our house and then we are pretty much done with it.

Tomorrow, I will be taking the furniture locks off the childrens
dressers and bookshelves and steam cleaning the furniture as well as
doing the last load(s) of laundry.  Oh yeah, and taking DS to his last
night of karate <sigh> - we are already set up with a new school in VA.

Friday, DD goes to a friends house so she won't get stepped on by the
movers.  DS will be going to his last day of summer school.  The current
plan is that DH or I will be vacuuming around boxes (probably DH as I
will be making sure to label all boxes).

So...yeah, I'm actually busy, but I'm more stressed about not being able
to chat with all of you - unless I get to al ibrary and go through Google.

I wil try to give one last post tomorrow before we are disconnected.

Larisa, getting a little depressed now

I hear ya.  The most distressing separation for me when we moved was when
the computer was not only disconnected, but disassembled, boxed up, and put
in the laundry room!!  Yes, I know exactly how you feel.  It's amazing how
attached at the modem we all are.  But never fear, Larisa, you're in our
thoughts and prayers.  And just keep looking ahead to the wonderful new
house you're getting.  You'll be back with us sooner than it feels.  : )

Good luck with all this moving business.  Try to look at the next week as a
vacation.  Just wondering, why are you "scrubbing the house"?  My
understanding is that it needs to be "broom clean".  When the last box is
out I will be vaccuming as they go.

well, we have 2 children ages 5 and 22 months...they spill...a LOT.
Throw in the 3 kitty QIs, 2 of which shed like crazy - 1 of these sprays
and relieves himself on the ba***t carpeting, the other has a stressed
induced vomiting issue, and the 3rd like to do things like eat thread
from the sewing machine, or pull a piece (still attached to a needle)
and then spit it back out.....lots of mess...oh, did I mention the DH
who routinely spills coffee down the steps in the morning?

Besides, it is a good stress release for me.  Normally when I thoroughly
clean, there is nobody in the house with me, and I can  yell, scream,
curse at things I haven't been able to resolve, and, in general, mutter
to myself without having to worry that somebody might answer me...though
there have been those voices every now and then <grin>.

So, that's why I'm going to scrub...besides, I hated having to clean
this place from top to bottom when we moved in, and it would make me
feel better knowing that they were coming into a clean house

Golly gosh that's come around fast!  Last time I moved the kids were with me
(DH at work) and the movers got the girls to "help".  We also nicked out to
the pool and park but on the whole the girls were great - and they just
loved "camping out" in their sleeping bags the final night.
