Newbie quilter needs help with applique question.

Post by DKCerve » Tue, 22 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I am new at quilting, although I have been sewing for more than 20 years.  I am
needing an applique pattern for oriental scenery, home, birds, womens, ect.
Where is the best place to find such patterns.  Your help is much appreciated.
All of the information that I have received from reading the newsgroup is so
much of a help to me.

Donna,
Welcome, good question.  You can find applique patterns almost
anywhere.  Coloring books, library books.  One of my favorite pieces
was done from a pattern for stained glass work.  The glass stuff, not
quilty stained glass.  As you get more experience (translate-obsessed)
with applique, you will see them in all kinds of places.

I'm not sure of the exact spelling of her name (so Please forgive me) but
Kimodo Sudo has some wonderful books with japanese flavor-  Fabeled Flowers
(one of my favorite) Circles of the East, East Meets West.

You can also go to the library and find a book on Japanese kimono patterns,
these translate beautifuly into applique patterns.
