OK, Christmas Presents, who else?

Post by Dan » Sun, 01 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I wasn't going to bring this up, but since SHE of the ONE-DOWN started (hi
Kenda!) Anybody else getting started (or nearing finishing) Christmas
Presents?   Not quite 5 months left to go guys!
I started one, a real one (not just a MEQ)  in flanel for my niece.  Got the
top together up to the borders, then two new projects came,  so I have to
set it aside for a few weeks.  But it is at least started.

Does buying all the fabric and batting count?  I will be making 64 placemats
with matching napkins.  4 each for the folks who work for me (11 people), 4
for Tim's mom,  4 each for my 2 bosses, and at the moment, I can't remember
who the rest are for.  Oh yeah, 8 of them are for Tim and I, so I guess
those don't need to be done by Christmas.

I am thinking that I will be an almost expert on machine quilting when I get
finished with these.  LOL

Hey Deb:

I hear you.....loud and clear......are you in for any relief in the near
future???  We, in NY, are supposed to get some this week.....gosh I hope so.  I
always said I wanted to move south, because I absolutely hate winter, but I
don't know......I know for one thing if I did I would have central air
conditioning for sure.  In fact, thinking of putting that in up here.....

Now if it can be over 102 degrees (I won't mention the 118 degree heat
index, personally I think it is higher than that) and I can think about
Christmas anyone can!!  I plan to get alot of the gifts done before
Halloween.  Thata way I don't have to fight the crowds!  I hate crowds,
unless of course it is at a quilt show

LOL, I agree with Deb, little hot to be thinking about snow and Christmas, but
I have almost finished the top to my nephew's bugs in a bottle...now I just
have to finish the other nephew's cat quilt and I'll be almost done....(course
I haven't even thought about what I'm making everyone else....)

Stay cool everyone!

What about having just picked out the patterns? I've gotten that far. No more
projects started until I finish the log cabin!

Here in Georgia, it's supposed to cool down to the lower 90's next week.
Apparently we're going to get some air from Canada. Y'all quit being so stingy
with that air up there, and send more down here! I can't take the heat much
longer.

Well...OK, but only if you promise to send some of your *warm* air this
way in January so we don't get too much of the dreaded white stuff :-))

After swearing that I'd never, ever make Christmas-themed quilts or
WHs, I fell in love with the Hoffman Christmas fabrics.  (I was just
going to get a half-yard or so for the MME Christmas 9-patch exchange
... oh, well.)  Now I have 4 Christmas lap quilts planned -- hey, not
just planned but started.

I know we don't have the heat that the rest of the country is having
-- just our typical SoCal 85+ summer heat.  But it's cooling to work
with all these gorgeous red and greens ... and I may actually have
them finished before Christmas!

But, sheesh, it feels so strange to be working with Christmas fabrics
in July and August ...

They say it's supposed to *cool off* down to around 90 degrees next week.
Some relief! :-P

To top off the heatwave, we just found out this morning that there was a
triple *** just a short distance from here.  No one has been arrested
and the police seem pretty clueless at this point.  I think I'll just stay
inside my nice li'l ol' air conditioned house with the doors and windows
locked for a little while, thankyouverymuch. :-(
