Just wanted to say a VERY belated thank you thank you thank you for my
birthday wishes!  What a difference a year makes!  Last year I was not a
very happy camper and was looking 3 times every day near my b-day for a wish
from y'all.  This year I was sooo busy and loved and lucky, I didn't even
have a chance to check in with you until the evening after my birthday!  But
it was a verrry happy addition to a very whirlwind nice b-day!

Sooo much has happened these last two months.  I am still overwhelmed and
spinning from it all.  first, DH had about 5 job offers this spring!
Interviewed for 3 of them.  One here in SC (too much travel, not enough pay
to warrant leaving where he is) One in NC near my college roommate (didn't
work out) and the other in Houston, TX!  well... long story short (i'll try
anyway) We are moving to Houston next week!  Last year around now, I was
dreaming of how I could make it to the Houston show and never did figure it
out, this year I will LIVE  there!  (and better make it to the show!)
I went to TX with DH for the interview in April.  Don't know any one in
Houston, but my best friend came over to visit with us from Austin for one
of the days we were there.  DH was supposed to have a 3 hour interview with
Compaq, it lasted almost 6 1/2 hours!  Mum and Dad kept the kids for us
here.  Bless their hearts the kids were sick the whole time and they offered
to keep them again for the house hunting trip!
MIL decided to come "help" with the packing, but the movers are going to do
everything for us, so there wasn't much for her to do.  She stayed a week
and was here for my birthday.
The ladies at work bought me some great chocolate chip cookies for my b-day,
and one of them brought me a french cruller for breakfast!  Andy came home
and we went out to a new Japanese Hibachi type restaurant for dinner (sans
toddler and pre-schooler) and then came home.  Bless his heart, he tried to
have a surprise  party for me!  (he kept calling me for my friend's phone
#'s during the day with "excuses" for calling them)  I was surprised by some
of the people who made it!  and by the # of them who came at last minute
notice!  And then Mum gave me a video cam for her/my present (I have to take
pics of the kids and send them back to her!)  And DH bought me the emerald
ring I was drooling over earlier in the week!  It is absolutely beautiful!
Then we called a realtor here to get our house sold.  One of them came in
10K less than we wanted to sell for AND said we had 10K in repairs if we
wanted to sell quickly.  things like totally paint the inside of the house,
replace perfectly good carpet, buy doors to the (glorified) hallway/office,
etc.  The next one said to put it on the market at 2K more than we wanted to
sell for, and get the carpets cleaned and touch up some spots with paint.
We went with the 2nd lady!
Put it on the market last Tuesday night.  Wednesday AM we had 2 people come
look at it.  Thursday am MIL went home and another couple came to see the
house, and I took my dog to the vet for surgery on a tumor we think is
cancerous.  Thursday pm we had 3 contracts to look at.  signed on one for a
thousand more than we were asking and we will help with their closing costs!
2 hours later we dropped the kids and dog at mom's hopped on our plane to TX
to go house hunting.  Saturday AM we signed on a house there!  Monday night
we came home late.  Tuesday morning my son went in for his final allergy
testing... after two years of NO milk or eggs in any form or trace amount,
he has outgrown his allergies!  He can now eat anything he wants.
Yahoooo!!!!!!!!
It has been an unbelievable whirlwhind of events here!!
Sooo.  Today I said goodby to every one at work and next Wednesday I will
leave my "home"town of 24 years, my parents, my friends since grade school
and go live in a hotel for 3 or 4 weeks, then move into an unbelievably HUGE
house!  it has all gone sooo quickly and easily I am just about ready for
some big hammer to fall down and wake me out of this dream!
The kids are very emotional.  They are ready for a big house and a move and
new friends, but are insistant that they are not leaving their school (MMO)
and
everyone here.  I don't think they have an inkling how far away TX is!
Although Lydia is starting to understand.

I should have space in the guest room for my sewing stuff!  I just have to
draft everything out and see where to put the furniture!  The house is twice
as big as ours now!  But I have a lot of my stuff at Mum's and I wasn't
counting on the piano going with us- my friend was "storing" it at our house
and said we could have it for the kids!  And I have to cover windows!  lots
and lots of windows!
And figure out what to do with a sage green kitchen - have I mentioned
before how much I dis-like green?  I see myself buying lots of sheets here
in the near future just to have some privacy until I can afford to cover
these properly!
Anyone want to come help decorate?  We should have 3 sleeper sofas and lots
of open space!!!

anyway.  that's why you haven't heard from me lately.  And probably wont for
a while.  I have a new hotmail addy so i can check in on some things if we
keep a computer handy in the move.  But it might be a month or so without
y'all, so keep us in your thoughts!  And I will be back as soon as I can!

Kellie
P.S.  Sarah, the galluping horse will be properly displayed above my sewing
machine!

That is an awful lot to go thru to get to the Houston show, lady! Congrats

Kellie: Good luck with the move. How fortunate you've been
with the house sale. Wow!

To cover all those windows you may want to consider
'temporary pleated shades'. I bought one in a Lowe's or Home
Depot about 2 years ago and am still using it for a 'fan
shade' in a half round window. I did see them in JC Penney
Catalog. JCP offered a set of about 6 for $25-30 with a
coupon for that amount to be applied to cost of regular
window covers at a later date.
These are NOT sure facts, just something I recall with only
medium accuracy!! ;-) You may want to check that out. HTH.
