borders and then diamonds

I have one last border to put on the disappearing nine-patch, then I
will go back to my diamonds.  I remember that I am supposed to draw a
line 1/4" from each edge.  But - I don't remember why.  Now I ask you,
how pathetic is that!  And now I also ask you, why am I doing that?

My husband says because my hard drive(brain) is full. So I only have to
room to remember the essentials. Like to do something but necessarily
why I'm supposed to do it. I'm surprised but it happens a lot. He says I
need to purge all that "useless stuff" in my head. Like remembering
statistics from high school. He won't play trivia with me anymore. Not
that I am that smart, I'm truly not. But that he doesn't remember a lot
of the stuff from the past. And I agree my brain some how remembers
meaningless things while sometimes big events in the past I can't
recall??? Don't know why, I just accept it. So have fun.

Karen, I think you are matching seam intersections???  You draw the seam
allowance/stitching line at 1/4 in.  and then match the intersections at the
1/4 in. line so when you sew it together they are all lined up nicely.

Hope this is what you are asking!

I'm pretty sure it's what Leslie said - that that's what you asked us.
The reason is that it takes a little while to eye-ball the joining point
on a non-45 diamond.  The seam allowance seems to go on such a long way
after the point.  You could make a 'corner' from thinnish card which you
could place at a quarter inch from each side and put a dot at its point.
You would have to do two, to cope with the two angles in your diamonds.
I think I remember that they were 60 diamonds?   If you measured the
distance at first, then got used to the placement, it would save you
loads of time.  I used it successfully for several pieces.  In fact I
made, for differently angled diamonds.

So you can see where the seam lines intersect at the corners, to line
up the seams properly?

Joanna, I agree with your husband.  Although I'm not so sure my hard
drive is full--instead it seems I need more RAM (or whatever the proper
term is these days).  I just can't multi-task the way I used to.
