First picture is of our faithful and wonderful***er Kelly.  She was
14 and a half years old and getting very sick.  Monday we finally
decided that her time was over.  It would have been a  much more
difficult decision if it wasn't obvious that it was the right time for
her to go.

We moped around for several days and decided that we needed another
puppy.  (That's the next picture.)  Happy is just that, a happy
addition to our family.  Angus, our 5 year old***er, is not so sure
right now, but they'll get that worked out.

Joan, I'm sorry Kelly is no longer with you, but it sounds like you made the
right decision at the right time. Happy is just adorable! You have more
courage than I do, though. We lost our QI last fall, and I just can't think
about adopting another one right now - although Happy could make me rethink
that!

Oh Joan... I know how hard that decision is... we had to do the same thing a couple of years ago
with our dear German Shepherd (he was 11 years old).  The only thing that makes it bearable is
knowing that they are no longer hurting... and in Charlie's case... I'm sure he's chasing Frisbees
in the heavens!

It took us a couple of years... but my new baby (arrived the day before Mother's Day -- gift from
DH) is a cute little yellow lab.  It's been a LONG, LONG time since I did the puppy thing... and boy
am I worn out.  But it feels so good to have a little "puppy love" back in the house!

I'm sure that your Happy...  will bring much happiness to your home!

Joan,
Sorry to hear about Kelly. Hugs to you.
Happy is a cutie!
I also saw the pics of the bass. My DH is a bassist and drummer, although he
doesn't have the room for either right now. More of a drummer, but love the
sound of bass guitar. That one of Aaron's is gorgeous.

That bass is a signature model that Warwick made for Aaron.  They did a
run of 46 of them and I got #2 for Xmas.  I can't play a***, but it's
a beautiful work of art in my eyes.

So sorry that you had to make the decision, but it was the last gift of love
you can give.  Kelly is a peace now.  Memories of her will never fade.  As
for the new puppy, she is a cuite.  Now you can create all new memories with
her and Angus.

Joan, I'm so sorry to hear about your Kelly. I can sympathize, since our
Tuppence -- another faithful and wonderful***er -- so recently went to
wait for us at the Bridge. Congratulations on getting Happy! He (she?)
is adorable; I love the particolored***ers! I'm hoping to get another
soon -- but I need to wait until after a couple of trips I have planned.
As for Angus, you're right -- they'll work things out. Dexter was five
when Tuppence arrived, and now he misses her just as much as I do.

I'm sorry about your QI Kelly and am glad that you decided to do the right
thing.

What a cute puppy! Happy looks like just the right name for her.

(((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))   but you have new puppy kisses to help you
at least :)

I know what you went thru... our Golden is 14 1/2 and not quite to the
"obvious she needs to go" time yet... very close, but still has "puppy"
moments that make you doubt yourself.  Hoping she makes it thru her first
kennel experience of her life this June while we are at the family reunion.
She'll have our other dog and Mum's dog to keep her company tho... and i am
splurging for the doggie spa with a/c and 2 pool visits during the week.

(((HUGZ)))   You did the right thing  -  both ways.  Happy
is sweet, though looks a little tentative in the photo.
Maybe realising what big shoes he/she is following in.

BTDT Joan, I know just how you feel.  When I look at QI Sampson these days I
sometimes think Merlot has come back to us - just as a much younger Merlot
when he still would have had his playfullness.  And QI Maisy is well, there
are no words to describe her (PMT, Change of Life, Moody come close....).
They almost fill the hole in our hearts left by Merlot's departure but not
quite.

Happy and indeed Kelly, look just gorgeous.

What a hard decision to make. And getting the timing right is always tough,
Joan. Happy's very cute though and looks like she'll keep you busy :-)

((((((HUGS)))))) for the sorrows, ((((((WELCOMES)))))) for the new pup.
Both are lovely, and you made the right choices, hard though it is.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We had to put two of our older cats, age
16 down in 2002.  It was the worst decision at the time but I loved them to
much to see them suffer.  I had hope they would die in my arms but sometimes
this just doesn't happen.  Give yourself peace knowing you gave them a good
home.  One of the cats we had went into kidney failure and the other had
seizures and when it was every singlew day and sometimes more...and it
drained him everytime coming to.  I just didn't want him to have a seizure
and die on me.
Hugs,
Pami
