On-Topic: See What's New at the Library!

A board/staff committee have had a wonderful time the last several months
spending a chunk of money on artwork for our expanded library building.  We put
out a request for local artists and were amazed and awed by the responses we
received -- a variety of media and tremendous talent.

Fiber art is definitely one of the media represented and we commissioned a wall
quilt (sorry, Sarah, but that's what it is!) from Robbi Joy Eklow, who is a
superb quilt artist as well as an avid library user.  Robbi came in several
times while she was working on the quilt and those of us on the staff who are
quilters kept her talking (free lessons!)

The finished work was delivered last week.   You can see it on Robbi's
website:   http://homepage.interaccess.com/~eklow

What you can't see in her photo is the continuous-line machine quilting in
variegated rayon thread....the gradations of her hand-dyed fabric....and that
the design is taken from architectural elements of the building.  (See the
library's site at www.lvdl.org)

Lucky me....I get to see this every day!

Hello,
It's a nice quilt, and she's a nice person, too.

Nice quilts, I especially love the "Tea" and "Bowls" , I do love my dishes. How
generous of her to share the way she does. Must be a very nice lady.

What a great quilt!  I love her statement about "auditioning her fabric".
