This quilt is a dedication to women. It has 9 women all connected by
overlaying one figure over the other, therefore "We Are All connected To
One Rib". Eve is the main figure. There is Florence Nightingale, Maya
Angelou, Mother Theresa with a young girl, Pocahontas, Sally Ride, a
tennis player, and a mother and child in silhouette. It is machine
appliqued and machine quilted. This is by far the most ambitious and
difficult project I ever undertook. As said earlier, I was midway with
this quilt when I got hit with cancer. Around that time, Princess Diana
died and a week later Mother Theresa. All of this put me in a funk and
it was very difficult to work on. But the radiation is finished, and I
quilted Diana with pertinent dates onto the background. Did the same
with Mother Theresa's figure. Both quilting info have a little black
ribbon to designate my sorrow.
Needless to say, when I completed the quilt, it was a very Happy dance.
And to you Sarah, thanks for pushing me when I needed it. And thanks to
all who mailed me with their words of encouragement.
Rita, who now has a lot of housework to get caught up with now that the
holidays are approaching.
