Well, I just talked a friend of mine into coming over and muscling a piece of
particle board into my sewing/computer room.  Now, understand, that room is a
disaster by even the most generous standards.  The conversation went something
like this.

"Can you come over for a few minutes on your way out?  I just need help to get
a piece of particle board into my computer room."

"Ummm.  What are you going to do with it in there?"

"Well, it's all cut to size already.  I'm going to set it up on 6 milk
crates so I can use the area underneath for storage and then put
a twin size mattress on it to use it as a guest bed."

"Ummmm"

"I can clear the mess in the room up a lot by using the shelf space
I'll be creating underneath"

"Ummmm"

"And once I have the mattress in place I'll have someplace to put
quilts".

"OK.  NOW I believe you.  I'll be right over."

Sometimes our friends know us too well.

Oh, I will.  A dust ruffle or SOMETHING.  But it's already improving things in
that room, so this may actually work.  Plus, I've found a local place where I
can buy a relatively clean used mattress and box spring for about $40.    Don't
know what is going to happen now that I have yet another excuse to make quilts
though.
