Very nice.  I especially like the afghan, since I have 10 thumbs when it
comes to crochet-I just can't get it!

Butterfly:
Wow ... both projects are lovely. That is a very unusual (to me) afghan
pattern. Your SIL will be thrilled.

Thank you. SIL's seen the afghan and helped me arrange it. I have to admit I
have enjoyed working on it  especially cause there wasn't a deadline.
DD worked on the set-up of the quilt, also--thus the sky/clouds between the
blocks.

Butterfly (looking forward to seeing daffodils, tulips, etc in ppl's yards
as we travel)

Those are both great!  I've never seen an afghan like that - it's
gorgeous!

Great quilt!  Used some of the plane material in a quilt I made
for my youngest grandson.

Drooling over the crochet quilt.  Beautiful!

I like 'em! I remember the diamond shapes as you were doing some of
them. Someday I want to be able to do something like that.

We put the clouds and 'scenes' in so it wouldn't look so 'boyish'

Thank you

Just simple crochet. Start out with chain 2, single crochet  in 2nd chain
from hook, *chain 1, turn each row.
2sc in sc,
sc in 1st sc   2sc in last sc,
sc in each of first 2, 2 sc in last sc*
Sc in each sc, 2 sc in last repeat until there are 10sc, ch 1 turn*
sk first sc sc in each , chain  1 turn* repeat until there is 1 end off
leaving longish end for sewing pieces together.
Each star gradually increases to 10 sc and then goes back to 1sc.
Each star has 3 solid and 3 variegated diamonds and 6 white to be sewn
around the basic star to make a hexagon,
That's the basic block.

So from what I know that you know, you can easily do this. And yes, I still
have started a diamond over cause I didn't get the beginning to look 'right'
after all that practice: )

Butterfly (that should whet your appetite)

You lost me after chain 2....that's as far as I ever got with my crochet
lessons.  The rest might as well be in Mandarin Chinese for all I can
decipher.  But it certainly is a beautiful afghan.  HMMMMM  maybe the
directions are in Afghani instead of Mandarin.  Still Greek to me!  ;-)
