I know you guys wouldn't hear from Merc but does anyone know if he is okay?
How is Sooz?  I know she was having a hard time getting to RCB and I have
been worried.

I finally got home around 8 pm!!!  Sheesh, what a long day.

I was able to pick him up around 5:00.  HE IS OKAY so far.  There's no cancer
that they could find.  We're thinking it could very well be a side effect of
some arthritis meds he takes, so he ain't taking THEM NO MORE.

He's stoned from the anesthesia, and I need to take him on his walkie and put
him to bed.  Just finished feeding Kevin and me and I am EXHAUSTED.  Been
having flashbacks to when Jessie died for a few days now.....since Friday, when
I got his test results.  We re-did the ***work, and I'll know more about that
in a day or so.

THANK YOU -- I could feel you guys behind me all day.  I'm going to walk the
sweet little manly man and then go to bed.  (Maybe I'll sneak a peek at the
rest of RCB....maybe not.  Will I be too tired?  HAW!)

I'm So glad it's not cancer, Sooz!  Shame on meds with unforseeable side
effects.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that the meds are the cause and are
easily, and not too terribely expensive to replavce with new meds!

(Sooz, Merc and Kevin)  I'll keep praying - I hope it is just the meds

Glad to hear he's OK.

Is there anyway you can determine if the meds were actually causing the
problem? It seems a shame to discontinue them if it was something else. It's so
pitiful having the "pups" crying.

My younger son had a platelet poblem (ITP) like Merc, when he was about 7--
suddenly broke out in bruises and "hickies" all over his body. The best they
could figure out, was that it was the aftermath of a viral infection a month or
so earlier-- one that shut down platelet production for a couple of weeks. It's
something self correcting, but we had to make sure he didn't get too "rough"
playing, etc-- no karate classes, no wrassling with brother.... He was
hospitalized a few days to get gamma globulin-- to ensure that whatever viral
problem was taken care of, and his platelet count monitered to make sure it was
rising.

I know, poor little guy!  Uh, big hairy guy with a shaved tummy, I mean.

Thrombocytopenia (the reduced platelet count) is, in rare cases, a side effect
of taking Deramaxx for doggie arthritis.  He's been taking D. for a few years
now.  The only way to tell is to take him off it for about 5-6 weeks and redo
the ***work.  This is the plan.

>SMOOCHES< to all of you.  Thank you so much for the support!  I'm always just

stunned by how caring and sweet you all are, and for one of our DOGS.  I know,
we love dogs on this NG......but still, thank you.  He's had a few rough times
over the past year, and you've not gotten sick of my teary-eyed posts about it.
 I am grateful.
