Hints on using elastic cord to do peyote beading?

Hints on using elastic cord to do peyote beading?

I'm considering doing a halloween costume that will include come portion of
beading. I want to do the beading with elastic thread or cord so that it
will be snug but be able to flex when the person wearing it (me) moves.

I've played a bit with some 7mm and 5mm pony beads, but my results have
been somewhat disappointing. I seem to have a problem getting the tension
right on the elastic cord. The peyote pattern seems to work best when the
cord is pulled taut, but then the resulting piece doesn't have much give.

Is there a better pattern for this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance.

Les

Try the stitch that they use for beadie buddies. that might work for
small areas. i think it's a sort of brick stitch
