Mary Hicklin of Virgo Moon - Sad

Post by Tink » Sun, 23 Nov 2003 08:34:51

Gleaned from another list I'm on:

Mary Hicklin of Virgo Moon (http://www.virgomoon.com/), had her entire house
and works destroyed in the Californian fires of three weeks ago.

From Mary's website:

"My home and business were destroyed in the San Diego firestorms on Sunday,
Oct 26, 2003. I am very thankful I was not injured! However, all the work
shown on this site is gone. I plan to start over, and hope to have new work
within a month or so."

This is so sad. I hope to find her address so I can send some lampwork
beads.

It's unfortunate.  She has a lot of company.  I know of
2 people who lost everything down San Diego way.  Also
a couple who let their horses out of the barn, figuring
that at least they would get out.  The houses on both
sides of them burned.  Their house and barn were
untouched.   The horses perished in the fires.
Go figure.

Wow - that's awful.  My heart goes out to her and her family, and to all who
were effected by the fires.

The group at the Bead Talk list is putting a Bead Aide shipment of supplies
together to send to her.  Here's the message she posted soon after the fire:

I have her mailing address and anyone interested in sending some beads can
contact me for it.

For those who have asked, no I don't know her personally. I have had her
website in my favorites folder since I started playing with beads though.

She can also contact CERF for a low interest loan
to help her get back on her feet.  That's what they're
there for..........
