Accepting credit cards...

Post by Festav » Sat, 08 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I have been doing the small craft show line for two years.  I have done
well at these.  I have sold on ebay, and have done well there.  I have
my artwork selling through a shop as a juried member.  It is time to
expand.  I am setting up a website, and know that being able to take
payment by credit card is, honestly, crucial.  It would also be a boon
at craft shows.  Sad to say how many sales I lost because I do not take
credit cards...  I have looked at a few places to set up a merchant
account and accept credit cards.  Thus far, Electronic Transfer
(www.electronictransfer.com) seems to be the best deal for me.  Has
anybody used them?  Are they any good?  Does Anyone have any horror
stories about them?  And, if you do take credit cards for your items, do
you have any companies to recommend/

Thanks for the input!

Scott

Accepting credit cards...

Have you looked into the auction sites that accept credit cards for you? I
know some of them do; the only one I have personal experience with is
AuctionPerfect.com, but they won't be bringing this on-line until next week.
I believe they accept the credit card for you, and then forward the money to
your bank account. I think, because they are big, with many transactions,
their discount rate is much lower than many people's. I know this doesn't
help for your own website, but it could help the auction sales.
Here in Canada, there are no fees for accepting credit cards, unless you are
a really new business, then it costs $25.00.

Accepting credit cards...

Post by Joa » Sat, 08 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I sell my work primarily at Craft Shows and had been resisting taking
Credit Cards for years..... I finally bit the bullet last year and i do
feel it has increased sales, particularly multiple sales.  I went with
Novus (1-800-347-2000).  The main selling points for me were that the
start up costs were reasonable and they have absolutely NO monthly fees
or minimums..... a big plus as there are many months when I  do no
shows.

Good luck!
