What to use for modern Russian AC interior Blue/Green?

Post by J Bar » Sun, 08 Dec 2002 00:25:49

Any suggestions on what color to use for modern Russian aircraft interior Blue/Green? I know Xtracolor makes it, but
have not mastered the drying time thing and not sure how it is to hand brush. Any other companies, I though Testors did,
but could not find it. If no commercial color, any suggestions on a color/brand/mixing ratio?

Thanks

Jim,

Not sure what you mean by 'modern blue/green' ???

All the 'modern' Russian a/c I have seen have a pale blue/grey***pit interior - Su-27, MiG-29, Su-25, Tu-160 etc.

I use the German underside colour - Helblau - with a touch of grey added for this.

See the real things at :- (Su-27's)  http://www.FoundCollection.com/;or
(Su-25)  http://www.FoundCollection.com/(Tu-160)  http://www.FoundCollection.com/

If you mean the earlier bright turquoise/green colour as seen on the MiG-31/25/27/23/21 then there are a couple of companies
that do a matching colour. I use an old bottle from a company called 'Red Paint' - unfortunately no longer available.

No doubt other posters will help here.......

Ken, I was referring to the MiG-31/25/27/23/21 type (model is a Mig-23 MLD),
as opposed to earlier Mig 17/19 etc., and later Su-27, MiG-29, Su-25 types,
therefore the "Blue/Green" call out. I had a bottle of the Red Paint, went bad a
while back.

Thanks

IIRC the Xtracolor is one of their (relatively) few flat colors.
Testors also has this in their Modelmaster line.
