I'm appending my database listing for this book below ... and tossing in
the listing for Volume 2 as well.  Despite these books' rather
misleading titles, please notice that the Il-2 is covered in Volume *2*.

Hi Niko,

I bought the book a few weeks ago and find it extremely well researched and
comprehensive. You get a lot of crisp b/w. photos and four pages of
representative colour profiles. The paper and printing quality is also very
good.
There is a three-view drawing to every type; unfortunately these drawings do
not stand up to the quality of the rest of the book: no scale, no measurements
and  rather fat lines.

Unfortunately there is nothing about the Il-2 'Shturmovik', as this was not a
fighter design, the authors include a short portrait of the Il-2 I (for
Istrebityel= fighter)-version though, that was obviousely used with good
results against the slow Ju-87 dive-bombers.
I think the book is really worth it's money.

By the way, I'm also new to this group and read it with a lot of interest. I
live in Germany, the land of restricted modelling - resources (try to buy
Aeromaster Acrylics or other serious stuff ...).
For me the web is like stepping out of a dark room!! I build 1/48th scale
planes, preferably US and Soviet,WWII.

Talk to you soon again

Werner Scheibling

The Il-2 series is covered in the companion volume - Soviet Combat Aircraft of the
Second WW Vol.two - Bombers

I am not sure if it is just called 'Bombers' (my copy is at home) - but it
certainly covers things like the Il-2, Tu-2, Ar-2, SB, Pe-2, Er-2, Pe-8 etc
