I understand they have been moved back to April, something about not being
satisfied with the***pit detail. They are apparently very cognizant of
making this kit a winner.

Last I heard, don't look for the Avengers until at least June.  They're
almost a year late already.  I'm wondering if we'll ever see them,
frankly.  I don't think Accurate made as much money on the Mustangs as
they thought they would.  And whose idea was it to issue all those 1/100
helicopters?  Sheesh...
I doubt seriously you'll see much from them after the Avengers.  A nice
Il-2 would be wonderful, but we shall see..

Do you know something we don't or are you just speculating? I understand
they are going to be releasing the Corvette next, and the Avengers are
being held up to make them right.  Perhaps they just don't want to pull a
"Hobbycraft".

I don't have any inside scoop, but since they were originally scheduled
for release last year (August I believe) and they're now talking June
*this* year, I have my doubts about their financial situation.  It simply
doesn't take *that* long to modify molds.  Even if they started
completely over from scratch it should have only taken about six extra
months.  I don't want to sound negative, but the little move with the
1/100 scale copters tells me they're not extremely in tune with the
business.  I hope I'm wrong, cuz I'd love to see the Avengers and the
Il-2s!  Here's hoping!

My theory is that too many other and bigger companies are competing with
them for the use of the Korean mold makers. For example I understand that
the molds for the Monogram Heinkel 111 were cut in Korea.

A smaller company might not have the leverage in order size etc to keep
at the top of the priority queue.

Just a guess, I too would like to see this company do very well indeed.

True, the Koreans are pretty full up.  But...they don't give the "big
guys" (monogram) preferential treatment.  First come first served.  There
has been a problem recently (after the TBF was done) in that Ace has
broken into 2 companies.  Things are moving slowly in Korea as a result.
But there are at least 2 other companies making tools besides ace in Korea.

There are about 6 major Korean tool companies. Minicraft used
to be their biggest customer but Revell's influence is getting bigger.
As far as I have read from the report from Japanese model magazine,
Accurate Mininatures is very picky about the tool quality.
For instance, the P-51 mold had been modified several times
due to minor correctness and fitness problem. From a tool
company's point of view, it doesn't surprise me that AM
is not a very welcome customer. Certainly I will give its
order lower priority. It's sad, but probably it's true too.
BTW, Minicraft's delay on M-26, Scoporion, and Su-27
is mainly caused by the split of tool companies.

Some side informations, DML tools are mostly cut in Japan and
Hong Kong. AFV tools are made in Taiwan and Japan. Taiwan has
very good tool making and casting industries too. It's just
they feel the model business is too small for their interests.

Oh don't say that! ;) That would crush all the hopes and dreams I have had
over the last few months for a 1/48 scale Il-2!
