AM SBD-3 Instrument Panel Decal?

AM SBD-3 Instrument Panel Decal?

Post by Scott Froes » Mon, 01 Sep 1997 04:00:00

Hi all--

I'm trying to figure out how the kit decal is supposed to work.  My normal
method for the IP would be to airbrush the panel the proper color, place a
small drop of thinned black paint on the recessed dial, drybrush white or
silver to highlight the detail and then put a drop of clear gloss on the
recessed dial to simulate glass.  What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Scott Froese

The theory is to paint everything on the side facing the pilot, but the
instrument 'glass' itself black. Apply the instrument decals to the engine
side of the IP. Then the instruments would be visible thru the glass.
Unfortunately the AM decals are just black dots, with no detail on them. Do
yourself a favor and pick up a Monogram Pro-modeller sheet of instrument
panel decals.
