No folks, it`s not on the streets yet, should be available in 10-14 days. One
of the Lancasters featured in the "Aircraft in detail" section is a 100Sqdn.
A/C named "Grog`s the shot" this A/C is we think (at ADS Decals) an important
machine and our decal sheets, in 1/48 and 1/72 scale should be available around
the end of this month featuring this machine and other Lancs including a B.II
and a "Grand Slam" aircraft in the daylight scheme.

Hobby shops, if you wish to stock our decals please e-mail us or phone/fax on
+44 (0) 1454 850119  (UK).

Don,

This is the first Lanc sheet we have done, in the USA our decals are stocked by
Squadron, Avia Imports, Greatmodels, Rollmodels amongst others (apologies to
those I have left out). If I can help with anything else let me know.

Would this Lancaster wear the very-attractive-but-mostly-
unavailable-in-decal-form red codes with yellow surrounds
on her sides? If so, I know at least one customer, and
probably a second (hey, Drewe, wake up!).

Not the "featured" aircraft, but one of the others has them, so you want the
outlined codes? Watch for the "Bomber/Coastal" follow up sheets, they should
follow very closely behind the Lanc sheet.

Great, more Lanc decals in 1/72! It's funny though, after years and years
with the sole Almark sheet for one Lanc (and a Halifax) as the only
aftermarket decal sheet for this aircraft, now they come pouring out. As far
as I know this will be the fifth or six sheet in about as many months. It is
like the proverbial ketchup bottle; first comes nothing, then comes nothing,
then comes nothing... and then all at once.

As an anglo-orintated modeller I am more than happy with the situation. BUT,
isn't it time now for some decals for the Halifax? There certainly isn't a
lack of interesting subjects: Let me just say "Friday the 13th"... The
(very) old Airfix kit is not too bad after all, especially if you substitute
the clear parts with Falcon vac-forms, and then there is the Machbox kit,
although not in current production, wich covers vesion with inline engines.

OK, the gauntlet is cast. Which one will be first to pick it up?

Remember that the markings of a lot of RAF aircraft can be assembled
from stock roundels, codes, and serial numbers, all of which are
available from various manufacturers in various scales.

But what we really need is something like those Woody Vondracek B-17
decals for Bomber Command. A lot of Halifaxes and Lancasters (esp.
those on strength in Canadian and Australian squadrons) had some very
colourful nose art. I would be happy with just sheets of colourful
nose art decals, good instructions, and maybe serials, and leave the
rest to the modeller.

I am building a Lanc for my wifes grandfather who was a wireless
operator from 1944-1945. I am particularly interested in 1/48 scale red
codes with yellow surrounds for 550 squadron. Markings for that squadron
are BQ-?.

 Hi Drewe,

It may or may not interest you, but there's an Australian decal
sheet(can't remember who makes it, I think Ozmods) with some
"Australian" markings for the aussie pilots in 617 Squadron.

Actually I think they may be in 1/48?

 HTH
