Delurking - Question about JCS Ornament issue

Post by a.. » Thu, 09 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Hello to all -

I have been lurking for a couple of months now, learning a lot about
cross-stitch and laughing a lot at some of your stories (especially
Trish's !).  I have been cross-stitching for about 1 1/2 years, and
have done about 8 pieces in the 8 X 10 inch or less range, all on
aida.  I am now jumping in with both feet and have just started
Teresa Wentzler's Treetop Sampler (aka Birdhouse bellpull) on 28 ct
evenweave (I think it's Jobelan but I am not sure).  I am finding it
VERY slow going, because it is my first time on evenweave and I am
railroading for the first time as well.  I am hoping it gets easier as
I get more used to it.

Anyway, enough about me...now a question.  I have just subscribed to
Just Cross Stitch magazine - am waiting for my first issue.  Does the
Christmas ornament issue come with the subscription or do I need to
purchase that separately?

Thanks so much for any help--I am really enjoying this ng!

Ann:

Welcome to the group.  I believe the Christmas Ornaments issue is seperate
and you'll have to purchase it.  Good luck on your first "non-aida"
piece....I'm sure it will turn out beautifully.

Delurking - Question about JCS Ornament issue

Anne, I just recently subcribed myself after I realised I had bought every
issue for the last year.  I spoke to them and asked your quesstion.  She
said that the Christmas ornament issue is part of subscription renewal
offer.  So I'll find mine locally.

You are very ambitious to jump from aida into a TW.  Be patient and don't
think you have to be a speed demon.  We aren't in a race and there isn't any
needlework police.

Have fun, glad you joined us.

Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me to the group, and for the info.
I will have to go find the JCS ornament issue on my own...I can't wait
to see it after what I have read here!

Happy stitching,

Delurking - Question about JCS Ornament issue

Hello to all -

Well, after searching local bookstores and newsstands without any
luck, I finally went to my LNS today and found the JCS ornament issue.
The owner said they had sold their first dozen, and the second dozen
had just come in today - lucky for me!  I am so impressed by all the
beautiful ornaments...it'll be hard to decide which to do first!

I also got some very neat magnifiers - they clip onto my glasses like
clip-on sunglasses would, and they flip up so I don't have to unclip
them should I need to jump up to answer the phone or attend to a
child, etc.  They can be had in various magnifications (I got 1.5x);
the owner had me sit down with a piece of the same Jobelan I am using
for my TW and try different magnifications so I could see what would
be best for me.  And if it turns out I don't like them, I can bring
them back, no problem.  She was extremely nice and helpful!  Happy
day!
