I don't know when this happened.  I really have been out of the loop!
Apparently my LNS, The Needleworkers Shop, has closed--I went there
today to browse a little.  Deb from ToonTown, is it closed for good, or
are they just renovating?

I believe Deb indicated a few weeks ago that the owner was retiring.  That
was the LNS for much of Saskatchewan, when we got the chance to go, so it
was sad news for many.

Just goes to show you that it doesn't pay to lose touch around here.
Thanks Dawne.

Nope, they're closed.  The last day was Mar 24th.  The beauty salon is
going to put tanning beds in there.  A rather boring new use for the
space IMHO!

Hi Deb,

The Needleworks Shop has company. The only Craft's Canada store here is
closing it's doors also. Put the blame on lack of knowledgeable sales people
(you get what you pay for) and the building lease not being renewed.

The old order changeth and leadeth ways to new.

Don't backstitch to e-mail just stitchit

Where are you Fred?  I haven't heard anything and as you may recall I
actually work at Crafts Canada right now.

Hi Deb,

Not to worry in Saska-bush I hope but your fellow workers in WPG are not too
happy.

Ah, that explains it.  East from Manitoba is managed by one person, and
West from Saskatchewan is somebody else.  So if anything was happening
in one area, the other wouldn't necessarily hear about it.  At least WPG
has needlework stores.  I visit two of them every time I'm in town.

Lynn the owner retired, so I am sad to say they are closed for good. That
doesn't leave us with many choices here. Lewiscraft has very little choice
for patterns and kits, and I went to Crafts Canada recently and their
selection is getting smaller as well. I ended up phoning the Purple Needle
in Calgary to place an order. They don't have an online catalogue
unfortunatly.  They do have a toll free number and don't mind shipping
orders
out of province.
I am going to be going to B.C in June so I am planning on hitting every
needlework store I can find on route.
