Searching for 3 ply yarn

Searching for 3 ply yarn

Post by Re » Mon, 18 Feb 2002 07:52:54

Hi there

I am searching for some 3 ply yarn in the UK, mail order is fine if
not in my location (south east england).  Not baby colours though, am
looking for navy or black to start with.

Anyone got any ideas?  A friend mentioned a wool mill in Scotland but
couldn't remember the name of it which isn't much good.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Found plenty of sites on Google, used 3 ply wool uk. Okay?
Hope this helps a little, there were too many to copy to here :-)

Hi Red,

Martin, one of our regulars on the newsgroup actually sells yarn... well
okay, his wife Jane does, but he's her lookout in here.  Thing is, they are
based in the UK, so you may be in luck if they have the type of yarn you're
looking for.  I'm sure Martin will read your message and respond, just
wanted you to be on the lookout for him.  :o)

Peace!  Gemini in Ontario, Canada

Thanks Gem. You're a sweetie.

Red, there's a three-ply in British Courtelle. We don't stock the brand --
Wendy -- but we will place an order if someone wants it.

If you want fine, pure-wool yarn though, we can supply a Shetland two-ply
lace weight. It knits as a three-ply though. 60 colours -- black included.

It's a bit out of order to go into the commercial side here, so please
e-mail me privately if you're interested.

Cheers, Martin

Great website Cher, but now I need to know how easy it is to adapt machine
knitting patterns to hand knitting.  My 16 year old would love one of the
denim cotton sweaters, and machine knitting's not my bag.  Anyone got any
ideas.  Thanks
