Hi everybody. I love this newsgroup.  I read here in this newsgroup
discussion about Flower thread floss,  also I saw in Joan Fabric a special
floss called Variagated Floss and pearl cotton, but I don't know when can I
use each one? Is this type of floss only for needlepoint? If not, where can
I  find a chart to try this type of floss? I have been using DMC floss
only, so now I am e***d to try a diferent type.

Thanks for your advice, :-)

Oh Luisa, are you in for a good time!!  Flower thread is a wonderful matte
cotton fiber that is roughly the same weight as 2 strands of floss.  It
adds a whole different look to your needlework when you use it.
Variegated floss can be either machine or hand-dyed (hand-painted).  I
tend to use the hand-dyed ones by The Gentle Art.  They add an antique
appearance to your designs.  They are especially nice when used in
samplers or "folksy" designs.  Pearl cottons come in several different
weights are have lots and lots of uses.  I enjoy doing pulled thread or
drawn thread with them as well as Hardanger.  See what I mean?  There's a
whole world of wonderful fibers out there.  Get your basic techniques down
with the regular cotton 6 strand floss then experiment.  There's no right
or wrong uses for any fiber.  And there's no such thing as the needlework
police to tell you what you did isn't allowed.  When there is such a
police force, I wanna be the "Chief of the Needlework Police".
Confiscation could be such fun!!  ;-)
