I am wondering if someone can please help me out here. I am doing the secret
garden by Lizzie Kate, and i have a question. The sampler thread provided to do
the door to the garden is listed as Sable, yet when i compare that thread to
the photograph on the kit, it doesn't look quite right. Has anyone else
confronted this? I went and looked at the sampler threads in the shop and i
felt that cherry bark looks a little closer to the picture than sable. I would
be interested in hearing others thoughts on this and if anyone has altered the
thread from that provided.
Thanks and please copy responses to email because i rarely have the time to
keep up with the newsgroup anymore!

Sampler Threads can vary *enormously* from dyelot to dyelot. The only
solution is, "It's MY piece." If you don't like what comes with it, go
have some S.E.X.! ;-)

FWIW, I'm probably going to change out my Sable too. Thanks for suggesting
the Cherry Bark!

Over on the AOL stitching boards lots of people commented on how different the
gate looked from the picture to the thread and many people were going to
substitute cherry bark for sable. The other concern people were having was the
size of the material for the project. They felt the amount was skimpy for the
size of the picture. So before you start make sure you have enough fabric and
maybe start in the middle instead of a corner. Hope this helps! I can't wait to
start my Secret Garden!

Is there somewhere online where I can see a picture of this.  The Secret Garden
is one of my favorite books and I'd like to know if this pattern is like
something from the book.

Thanks,
Chelly

I am not aware of anywhere that you can see it online, however, i read that the
designer did the design for her daughter who is a big fan of the book. I bought
it sight unseen on that basis, to do for my daughter, who also loves the book.
It has a charm of a butterfly and a lock and key, and lots of flowers
surrounding a locked door in a garden wall. I highly recommend it!
