FA: Seated Liberty Dollar and 1859 Indian Cent

FA: Seated Liberty Dollar and 1859 Indian Cent

I almost decided to wait until after the holidays to list any more
coins, but decided to squeeze a couple more in this week.  I'm not
sure if I will bother listing any more this year or not.

First is an affordable (a relative term) 1871 Seated Liberty dollar
that I grade VG.  This one's been in my collection since 1981.  It has
even wear for the grade and show no signs of cleaning or abuse.  It
does have a couple of small rim nicks that I noted in the auction but
I don't think these detract.

Second is an 1859 Indian Cent.  This is a one year type and the
grading books don't have a separate grading secion for these so I
pretty much graded it from the obverse as a VF35.  It's possible it
could be an incomplete strike EF40 but I don't see enough detail in
the feather tips so I'll stick to calling it a high end VF.  This one
shows some signs of circulation but is still a nice evenly colored
original coin.  It is a light brown color typical of these copper
nickel coins thought the images make the coin look a bit browner than
it really is.

You can find these coins listed here:

They close Sunday.  The dollar has already attracted some interest but
the poor indian is largely neglected at this point.  Thanks for taking
a look.  :)

These close tonight.  They are both still at bargain prices, but the
indian cent is a steal right now.  I checked some of the closed
auctions at Heritage and this coin looks as good as some of the EF40
slabbed coins and better than one ANACS VF35 (there were only two
VF45s to compare to).  With the VF35s selling around $50 and the EF40s
going from $75 to $100 mine is going cheap at the moment at $16.50.
There are several watchers so I'm hoping for some spirited sniping at
the end, but you may be able to snatch a bargain on this one.
