Old Irish (Hibernia) Coin... Help needed...

Post by Loren Sot » Tue, 09 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I have recently been given a coin, with the following markings:
Looks like a large penny.

FRONT:
Hibernia 1788 (A picture of a harp & A crown on the front)

BACK:
Georgivs III Rex

Could somebody tell me how much this coin might be worth, and little
background on it?

Thanks for your help.
:-)

Easy:
It is worth 3 to $300 depending on quality.

Your coin is undoubtedly a contemporary forgery, as there were no official
Irish issues dated 1788.

I cannot give any help over value.
