How many did you search to find a 2000-P Type II Cent?

Post by Harv Lase » Sun, 04 Mar 2001 14:28:55

Aside from Phil V1.0, also known as "Mister Lucky" {insert Henry Mancini
music here..} who found one under his dead monitor..

How many of you have found Type-II 2000-P Cents and in what quantities and
how did you find them?

- pocket change and just got lucky?
- bought machine-wrapped rolls and searched them?  If so, how many rolls
did you search and how many did you find?
- bought a 5000 coin bag(s) and searched it/them?  If so, how many bags did
you buy and how many did you find?
- gave up looking and just bought one off of eBay?  If so, what's a
reasonable price to pay for one? Or has a reasonable price even been
established yet?

Has any percentage of mintage been guesstimated yet by the illuminati out
there?  Out of the billions of 2000-P Cents minted, do we know how many
Type IIs there are?  Are the numbers in the low thousands?  Tens of
thousands?  Hundreds of thousands?

Have most of the finds been narrowed down to any particular
city/region/area/state?

I have bought about ten rolls of solid Red Unc. 2000-P cents from two guys
and have so far gone through three rolls and found none. I would buy a bag
of 5000 from back East except the shipping charges to the West Coast are
astronomical as a bag of 5000 cents weighs close to 30 pounds I think..

In Calif., rolls of P-mint anythings are simply not available at banks.  We
get D-Mint everything here.

Why are all of the interesting errors nearly always P-Mint coins? :(

Thanks,

Harv

One 2000 T2 and one 1998 T2 out of over $40 of cents in several 3lb
coffe cans.

I searched over 700 rolls of both machine wrapped circulated and
uncirculated 2000s. I found:

60+ Wheaties (oldest 1911-P)
20+ Canadian cents
5 1998 T2
2 Bermuda cents
0 2000 T2

Went through about 400 cents in an empty water bottle, didn't find boo...

Searched through 20 cents lying around in my car, and found one 2000 p type 2...
fingerprints, toning and all.

I found nine (9) type II's in one roll of 2000-P's.  Every one is a bright,
shiny BU.   ;^)

My friend Louie (who finally got a real computer and can't figure out how to
get here) found ~15 in 5 or 6 rolls.

I probably got my lucky roll from Louie (we often trade rolls when we buy
multiples).

I started looking shortly after they were announced. I have found a
single 2K-T2 Cent and 6  '98T2 Cents. I have been saving all my change
for a number of years and also aquired a $25 box and a $50 bag of
circulated cents to search through.  All told, I have probably
searched $150.00 worth of Cents.
