South Africa R1 Error coin?

South Africa R1 Error coin?

Post by Jacques Stryd » Mon, 15 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I have found a R1 coin from South Africa in circulation which was not
minted properly.  The design is totally shifted to the bottom. It also lacks
the ridges on the side of the coin.

So can this be regarded as an error coin and where can I obtain information
on how to get the coins appraised.  I assume it would be of value to someone
who specializes in error-coins.  Will the South-African Mint have an idea
of how many coins was minted with that problem or could it be that it
only happened to one coin?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
