Greetings:

"Excellent condition" is not a standard numismatic grade. Assuming
your Indian Head Cent is circulated, it would probably sell at retail
for somewhere between 75c and $11, with a range of $1.50 to $4 being
even more likely. The exact value would depend upon the amount of wear.
If the coin is damaged (pitted, gouged, bent, drilled, etc.), it would
be worth close to nothing.

For learning what the standard numismatic grades mean, please refer
to: http://www.uscents.com/extra/coppergrade.html .

For up-to-date retail coin values (not all circulated grades given),
please refer to: http://www.coin-universe.com/prices/index.html . You
will have to do some extrapolating for in-between gardes.

Please remember that a dealer has to make a living, so he/she will
offer you only a fraction of the retail value. For lower grade coins,
the fraction will be smaller, as there is much less demand for such
coins and they tend to go unsold for longer periods of time.

    Best of luck.

                                    Regards,
                                    Steve
