Howdy, y'all,
Well, the Mass quarters have arrived in Deep East Texas. My bank
[Fredonia State Bank of Garrison, TX] got the 'D' mint version on
Friday, January 21. I was in Houston at the Greater Houston Coin Club
43rd Annual Money Show and got the 'P' version for $14.50 a roll...the
D's I got today were at face value.
I haven't broken open the D roll yet, so I can't tell much about them
'cept for the end coins on the roll...of course, each one shows ole'
George...I can't report on the Mass reverse yet...I may yet break open
the roll; however, tonight is the January meeting of the Fredonia Coin
Club where I'm gonna see if I can sell'em.
Further report later...
BTW, although many dealers reported slow activity at the GHCC show, I
had a good time...including a meal Saturday night with ANA President Bob
Campbell, ANA National Coordinator Walt Ostromecki, Krause Publications'
honcho Cliff Mishler, GHCC President and ANA youth director Ralph Ross,
ANA Regional Coordinator and GHCC member Bernard Loebe, and Ed Arrich, a
GHCC member.
We had a delightful meal and much discussion about the current state of
numismatics...consensus was that the hobby is doing fine...we just need
to do more to encourage the kids to start collecting.
Later, y'all!!
