Have seen this grading service in some auctions. Any opinions or info.?
Thanks a lot.
INS sucks "IMHO" (there my butt's covered) LOL
I didn't think they were still in business anymore. There grading was so
bad, that they quit. I have an 1832 Bust half graded AU-50 in their slab.
I puchased from an honest auction house that regraded all they had and I
had to agree with the regrades. This coin would be a low end XF. Others
in the auction were grading as low as high-end VFs.
I would not have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. But it's
true, they couldn't grade coins properly (at least Bust halves).
Check the Greysheet. They have a chart in there of what percentage of
full market value certain grading companies get on their slabs when sold
to the public. I can't quote these right now and if someone would like
to, I would appreciate it.
However, I do remember that PCGS is something like 98%, NGC 95%, ANACS
90%, PCI 85%, so on and so on.
