Hello Dgbnumis.What you have is a modern medal listed in Standard Catalog of
Mexican coins and Medals as M159a.Mintage is 66,275.The price listed is
US$10, but this book has been out of print for 20 years. I have seen these
at shows in AU-UNC for around $15.The medal is for the 100 year anniversary
of the battle at Puebla, the "cinco de mayo" celebration Mexico is famous

At a recent coin show, I was flipping pages of Mexican coins and observed a
36mm silver coin/medal.  In my 29 years of coin collecting, I've never seen
this item.  36mm, lettering around the observe,Centenario, Heroica Battalla Del
5 De Mayo De 1862.  This translates, Centenary of the Heroic Battle of 5 May
1862.  There is a person in military uniform on a horse facing left, three
towered buildings left, cannon and a rack of cannon balls bottom, the word
Puebla below the buildings and the Mexico Mint Mint Mark in the field at two
o'clock.  The reverse has the Mexican eagle and snake, cactus, with the ledgend
