$2 STAR NOTES

$2 STAR NOTES

Post by thecoin.. » Fri, 03 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Well I got stocked up for the big weekend.  I went to the bank and got 4
rolls of halves, 2 rolls of SBA's, and a $100 bundle of $2's.  No 90%
halves, 7 40% halves, and 6 1976 $2 star notes.  I never see star notes
of any kind and now when I go to the bank for 2's for spending, I get
them.  Go figure.  I am not really a note collector so maybe someone
could tell me if they are worth keeping.  They are fairly crisp and two
of them have somewhat low numbers. (00069483 & 00585146, both fom Philly
reserve) Should I spend them?  Help!

I work in a bank and sometimes there are entire straps of star notes. I don't
think they are worth anything except maybe if you found a error note with a
star.

Currency collectors pay a premium for star notes. A star note is a replacement
for an error note. That is what the star designates.
