Have the following. Cannot get the coin to scan (scans black) so will try
to describe it. Approx. 28mm and appears to be hammered (coin is not round
and edges are irregular). Weighs 7.6 grams and is apparently silver. It is
well-worn but can decipher the following: Obv: depicts a male bust facing
left. Around the bust is the following legend (the _ indicates
letters/symbols that I could not read):
P H I L I P _ _ S . D : G . H I S P . R E X . C . H O L _ Rev: depicts a
shield topped by a crown (the shield has flat top and rounded bottom).
Behind the shield are crossed staffs? Inside the shield, the top portion
appears to be divided into eight squares each containing some kind of
symbol - it is separated from the bottom portion by two horizontal lines.
The bottom portion contains at least 2 (maybe 3) diagonal lines to the left
and what is possibly a standing lion to the right (facing left). Around all
this is the following legend:
D O M I N V S M I H I A D I V T O R Keep in mind that some of the
letters run off the edge of the coin and I had to guess at the exact letter.
However, I feel that the above is VERY close. I cannot find a date.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. This one has me
