Will the euro makes European coins and banknotes more valuable?

I was wondering everyone's opinions on whether you think that the euro's
introduction next year in coins and banknotes in euro zone countries will
make the current national European coins and banknotes (francs, lire,
deutsche marks, etc.) more valuable?

Someone gave me a 1000 Italian lira banknote recently after a trip to Italy.
I suspect it isn't worth all that much, but am wondering if it might
potentionally be worth something.

It's worth about 48 cents face.  I saw one for sale at the dealer's today for 1
US dollar.

If you mean a newer small 1000 l. note (with Montesori on it?),
then that'd be a resounding "no."  Unless you ebay it - then
I suppose the sky's the limit.
