I guess Im kind of a dumb shit. been collecting for 3 decades off & on, and
thought I new most of the jargon. "full step" wasnt in my numismatic
vocabulary till sunday. then I was never interested in Jeffs, before either.

steps, incl. proofs, and Im not that impressed, in fact  Im damn
dissapointed with my collection. coins 85-00 look pretty good, proofs
better. older coins have great luster, hair & *** definition, but lack
clearly defined steps  !! is this because early struck coins have better
defined steps  ??  is a coin with great luster, & definition incl. steps
MS-69-70 ???  how about great luster & definition except steps, MS  what

greatly appriciated, I dont know how to relatively grade jeff nickels
anymore !! I have a 38s graded MS-67, by  ANA " numismatic guarantee
corporation of america", with no visible steps !! what % of BU struck coins
are full step ? any guesses  ??   thanks  Tony

I just was looking through my very small proof set collection, and here's the
run-down on steps:

+ 1960
- 1960-P (U)
+ 1961
+ 1962
+ 1963
0 1964
- 1964-D (U)
- 1970-S (U)
- 1970-S (U)
- 1970-S (U)
- 1970-D (U)
- 1970-D (U)
- 1970-D (U)
- 1978-D (U)
+ 1978-D (U)

(U) Uncirculated Coin Set
+ = Full, sharp steps.
0 = Defined, but not sharp
- = Undefined or incomplete

Hope that helps.

For booklets, video tapes, auction results, etc. on full-step
Jeffersons, write to the following requesting a price list:

Susan & Richard Sisti
P.O. Box 363
Newfoundland, NJ 07435

They are on the net but I don't have their email address handy. Perhaps
someone else here may be able to help you out.
