Yikes, someone really burnt themselves!!!  It was issued at $36 Canadian
(Around $25.50 US) but like most modern proof sets has fallen steeply in
value.

J&M (they're online) retails it for $14.50 Canadian (Around $10.50 US)
Gatewest lists the same price. Even Charlton only guides it at $20
(around $14 US).

Causey's auction's make me wonder if I should sink a few hundred into
buying sets like these to dump south of the border.....

Price guides just reflect what people are willing to pay for
coins. If people are willing to pay more than the price guides,
then the price guides are too low.

eread my post.  I gave RETAIL prices for two of Canadas largest dealers,
gatewest and J&M.  The set is sold at this retail price (around 10.50 US)
because they cannot sell them for more.  There is no market for them.

That Causey's auction can get so much for such a set shows that Americans
are willing to overpay for common  Canadian stuff.  As I suggested perhaps
I should be cashing in on this.
