Billpoint problem

Billpoint problem

I know everyone's always jumping on Paypal, so I wanted to throw in a problem I
had with their competitor....

I had a buyer pay by e-check on January 20th.  Once I noticed the "pending"
payment, I went ahead and mailed the package (it was only a $3.00 purchase)
instead of waiting until clearance.

Well, after about 10 days, the payment is still "pending" -- according to their
website, it should clear after 3-4 days.  My buyer e-mails me curious as to
what is going on (he's already received the item, and we've both left feedback
to each other).  I write Billpoint asking them what's up.  They reply basically
"that transaction failed, you won't get your money, and the buyers account will
not be charged..."  Meanwhile, the payment remains in the "pending" status.

Fortunately, I got an honest buyer, and he is going to mail payment now.  After
another e-mail, I finally got Billpoint to remove the transaction.  In their
letter today, Billpoint wrote "We would be happy to cancel the transaction in
question, so that your buyer can attempt their payment again."  Yeah, right....

This is one reason I will not use them. It is nearly impossible to get a non-canned
answer from them. By the way, if you use them in the future, *never* send an item
that was paid by e-check until you are notified it has cleared, and verify the headers
in the notification. I was burned in a scam with my computer auctions about six months
ago where the buyer sent a bad e-check, then sent a bogus cleared notification.
