Sounds more like a hangover to me, you sure the symptoms were not
reported after the brew was done (Grin)

Greetings!
After reading the posts on aluminum brewware I just felt I had to inform the
group of a more serious hazzard. I've heard reports of studies where
stainless-steel was used for brew kettles and the problem wasn't the amount of
dissolved metals but the metals contained in the steam. It seems that depending
upon the level of exposure after a period of 2-4 weeks (typically) people
exposed would experience symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, dilated pupils, and in
extreme cases even vomiting, loss of conciousness and uncontrollable belching.
One day after the onset of these symptoms there is frequently dry mouth,
headache, and hypersensitivity to light and sound, and uncontrollable
flatulence. Actually maybe it was any kind of kettle...I think I heard it on
Oprah. I seem to recall she got all argumentative about maybe it was caused by
the consumption of large quantities of ***ic beverages. Personally I think
it's the stainless pot and besides I've never seen any studies linking homebrew
to these symtoms.
Anyway...Relax...have a homebrew :-)))))

These sounds like the symptoms people experience after being exposed to
Oprah for too long.

Dunno about the steam thing, but I have my own theory:

You are hangin' around a hot kitchen (or propane cooker), probably
drinking beer, and there's also a good chance you are preoccupied with
what you are doing.  It is very easy to get dehydrated!  Until I figured
this out, I used to wonder why I sometimes felt ill at the end of a brew
session.  Now, I just make sure I drink several pints of water (in
addition to anything else I may be drinking).

Um, I don't think some people saw your humor in this post.  I got a good
chuckle though!

It's amazing the pseudo-scientific garbage people like Oprah foist on an
unsuspecticg public -- the symptoms described are obviously those of water
poisoning!  Specifically, all the additives put in our water to "purify" it.
I avoid this by the simple process of always using distilled water which I
have first used in my fish tank for a fouple of weeks.  This insures that it
is "natural" water.  Of course, because of certain problems with water first
pointed out by W. C. Fields (having to do with the apparently am***social
proclivities of fish), you must insure that your tank contains only very
young  & thus *** fish.  This is not easy, but with constant observation,
and a great deal of perseverance, it can be done.

The wisdom os William Claude Dunkenfield should never be forgotten.

"Ah yes, it is easy to stop drinking.  I have done it a thousand times!"

Since stainless steel is widely used throughout the food industry I would be
suprised if this were really a problem.

Oh, no! Haven't you heard about all the health problems you can have
from dissolved minerals in the enamel? Just kidding.... I don't want to
start a enamel is dangerous thread. 8^)
