"Brewer's Best" beginers start up kit

has anyone used the "Brewer's Best" kit?  The local brewer's shop has
them.  I was wondering if they make good beer, and if they are
versatile.  (also, $49, good price?)

Santa brought my Brewer's Best Kit in 1994.  I've replaced the primary
bucket a couple times (dark beer stains), but have been very
satisfied.  Price was $44 back then, so $49 isn't out of the question.

I've been very pleased with mine through 4 batches now.  Add a longer
siphon hose than they include and buy a thermometer as others have
suggested.  I also added a carboy secondary fermenter after two batches.
Price might be a little high.  My local store sells them for $39.95.  He
has a web page.  Here's the URL for the kit.

By the way, Brewer's Best makes some good batch kits ($20) as well.  I
especially liked their red ale.  Toss the yeast and buy fresh to be safe.

I have also been somewhat pleased with my "Brewer's Best" set-up, though
get another book to use for reference (Papazian, Miller, Snyder, etc.),
the one mine came with was so-so for "quick reference," but that's it.
ALso, make sure you don't scrub your primary bucket (the 6.5 gallon one).
There was nothing warning against this in my package, and I almost ruined
mine after the first use.  Also, I'd suggest getting a glass carboy for a
secondary.  I couldn't believe the amount of material that settled out
after I transfered.  Anyway...have fun!
