Estes Shock Cord Replacement

Estes Shock Cord Replacement

Post by Allan Richards » Mon, 25 Feb 2002 12:02:37

Launched my MK-109 Estes today and apparently the shock cord burnt in
half. The last I saw of my chute and nosecone it was heading north and
gaining altitude. Got the rocket back but will have to replace the
nosecone and chute. I have purchased 1/4" braided elastic to replace
the shock cord but it will not fit through the anchor point. Any ideas
how to reattach it to the interior of the body tube?

1) It is under warranty. Call Estes for free replacement parts.

2) You should get "cotton" or cotton blend "Cable Cord" at the hardware
store. Use a 12 to 18 inch length of this at the normal MK-109 anchor and
then tie the free end to the shock cord. With this, even the standard Estes
shock cord will survive dozens of flights!
